Roco Kingdom Counters: How to Beat Every Archetype

Counter Roco Kingdom's burst, stall, weather, speed and lifesteal teams with role-based answers, safe switches and a mana-first game plan.

A counter is not "the type that beats the type". That is a matchup. A counter is a slot, a sequence and a resource plan that turns a losing archetype into a favorable game. In Roco Kingdom's four-mana PvP format, the best counter often wins without knocking out all six Jinies: it removes the two pieces the opponent's plan cannot replace.

This guide covers the five archetypes you will meet most often and the answer for each.

Counter, do not collect

A counter that only works against one opponent is a bench slot. Aim for a Jinie that answers two common threats and still contributes in a neutral matchup. It assumes the Chinese version's six-Jinie, four-mana rules, marked beta / unconfirmed for the global client.

The counter matrix

Threat Tell Best answer Fatal mistake
Fire burst Fast lead, expensive fire finisher Water resist with recovery, or a bulky pivot Staying in to trade damage
Status stall Repeated debuffs, healing, low damage Cleanse plus a burst window Ignoring the stack until it is lethal
Weather sweep Setter on turn one, abuser on turn two Kill or pressure the setter, stall the weather turns Letting the setter re-enter for free
Speed cleaner Fast lead, revenge-kill pattern Bulky priority-like answer, or a resist Bringing a slower glass cannon
Lifesteal tank Long fights, drain skills, high defense Burst before it stabilizes, or deny energy Trying to out-sustain it

The rest of this page explains how to execute each answer.

Countering burst

Burst teams want a short game. They lead with speed, force a knockout, and use the mana lead to trade down.

What works:

  • A water or otherwise resistant pivot that can survive the first two turns.
  • A healing or drain skill that undoes the burst without spending your whole energy bar.
  • A revenge killer that enters after the knockout and threatens the attacker.

What does not:

  • A neutral body with high health and no recovery. It survives one turn and dies on the second.
  • A second glass cannon. The faster one wins, and you are betting on a speed tie.

The key decision is the first switch. If you stay in and lose the lead, the burst player can chain knockouts. Switch early, even at the cost of tempo.

Countering status stall

Stall teams win by making every turn slightly worse. Poison, burns, speed drops and healing add up until your team cannot trade.

What works:

  • A cleanse on a bulky support, not on the carry. The carry needs its turn for damage.
  • A burst window after the cleanse. Clearing the stack without punishing the stall player gives them a free re-apply.
  • Energy denial. A stall team that cannot heal is just a slow damage team.

What does not:

  • Racing the damage. You will lose the long fight.
  • Cleansing every turn. You run out of energy and the stack returns.

The best team guide recommends one dedicated support slot for exactly this reason.

Countering weather sweep

Weather teams are the most readable archetype and the most punishing if you ignore the setter.

What works:

  • Pressure the setter immediately. If it cannot enter safely, the abuser is just a normal attacker.
  • A backup plan for the weather turns. Stall them out, or force a trade that leaves the abuser exposed.
  • A bulky resist that can survive the boosted hit and answer back.

What does not:

  • Killing the abuser first. The setter will replace it and the weather will continue.
  • Bringing a team that relies on the same weather. The mirror is decided by speed, not skill.

Countering speed cleaners

Speed teams want to move first every turn. They lead fast, revenge-kill, and snowball once they have the mana lead.

What works:

  • A bulky answer that survives the first hit and threatens a knockout back.
  • A resist that forces the cleaner to switch, wasting its tempo.
  • Mana discipline: do not trade a slow piece for a fast one unless the trade improves your remaining lineup.

What does not:

  • A slower attacker with more damage. It dies before it moves.
  • A full team of fast pieces. You win the speed tie and lose the bulk war.

Countering lifesteal tanks

Lifesteal tanks win by refusing to die. They drain, heal and outlast, and they are weakest before the first heal lands.

What works:

  • Burst in the first two turns, before the tank stabilizes.
  • Energy denial: a tank that cannot afford its drain skill is a slow wall.
  • A status that reduces healing or punishes long turns, if the global build has one.

What does not:

  • A long attrition fight with a worse sustain engine.
  • Ignoring the tank to kill the supports. The tank will outlast your damage.

Build a counter slot in four steps

  1. Identify the archetype that beats you most often.
  2. Name the one Jinie whose removal ends that plan.
  3. Pick a slot that survives long enough to remove it.
  4. Test the slot for three games and change one variable.

Do not build a counter to every archetype at once. Six slots cannot answer everything; the PvP guide explains how to choose which matchups to concede.

Countering bosses vs countering players

Bosses are a different puzzle. They have scripted phases, shields and a Vitality cost, and the boss guide covers the Star Magic shield break and the sustain plan. Do not bring a PvP counter team to a boss and expect it to work; the boss does not switch or run out of mana.

FAQ

What is the best counter in Roco Kingdom? There is no single best. The best counter is the slot that removes the key piece of the archetype you actually face.

Do I need a counter for every type? No. Cover the three archetypes you see most, and accept a bad matchup against the rest.

Is a type advantage enough? No. A resist that cannot threaten the opponent is a stalling piece, not a counter.

Can I counter a boss with a PvP team? Usually not. Bosses have shields and phases; bring sustain, shield break and type coverage instead.
